4th Journal Entry In Theory Of Fun For Game Design it speaks of the importance of the context of a game as well as how it’s choreographed. They’re are many aspects to it, similar to how dancers, actors, and musicians have their own creativity but they can be led by another person to make something completely new. Context is also very important because it’ll determine how appealing a game can be to a person. They gave the example of how Tetris, a simple game almost everyone has played, could be appealing if there was a dark context behind it. In addition to this, the chapter within Lenses discusses how important a well fleshed out character can be. The more believable and relatable a character is, the more invested a player will be in their story regardless of whether they’re the villain or protagonist. A character can be polished and seem more rea in numerous ways. The way they list it is their stance, behaviors, and actions as well as how the player projects themselves onto said character. The debate between first person and third person perspective is also used since first person creates a more connected and “you are the character” feel while third person allows a player to project themselves onto the character since they can see the entirety of the character rather than just seeing through their eyes. The relationship between characters also builds a more intriguing world while and once again makes the player character more interesting and relatable.
