Castlevania Symphony Of The Night Game Manual

Castlevania Symphony of the Night was published by Konami on March 20, 1997 with amazing reception. It has aged phenomenally and is regarded as one of the best games in the series.

All concept art was created by the creative lead of the game Ayami Kojima. This piece in particular displays the protagonist named Alucard.

This piece is a reimaging of the disc case as well as game disc if the game were released today on Playstation 5 rather than the original Playstation.

This is an enemy designed for the Underground Caverns section of the game.  An amphibious enemy that swims through water and can hoist itself up on land that can attack the player up close with it's melee weapon and attack the player at range with it's fireball attack.

This is a rendering of the previous enemy in a pixel art style and also making an appearance in a pokemon game.

This a short animation of the enemy shooting out a fireball.

This is a three dimensional rendering of the sword the enemy would use.

Working on this project was a very interesting experience. Being told at the beginning of the semester to select a game was simple enough since I thought we would use it as a reference for analysis and make our own creations. While we did do that we also had to make design decisions to somehow improve upon the game. I originally remember struggling with ideas since I've only ever heard praise for the game and I thought the game was near perfect but as I analyzed it more while it certainly is a fantastic game it can certainly be improved upon. The scene mood alteration, menu UI design, and three dimensional animation rendering would not load in this fashion so they can be accessed with the other links in the previous menu.
